VOLUNTEER JOB DESCRIPTIONS

* Please note that all programming volunteers must undergo a background check before working with the participants and attend The First Tee Volunteer training.

 

Title: The First Tee Coach Program

Purpose:  To provide regional and national recognition within TFT Coach Program.

Qualification:   Must complete all requirements for each pertinent level of TFT Coach program. Must be locally certified as Birdie Level coach locally (see below).   

Timeframe:  Length of commitment is a minimum of three years to the program.


Title:  TFTCV Coaches

Purpose:  To provide assistance to the First Tee of Central Valley staff with daily clinics.

Duties:   Ability to demonstrate and exhibit all TFT Nine Core Values to participants within their appropriate coach level.  Monitor participant safety by enforcing the safety rules outlined by the chapter’s procedure manual.  Learn lesson plans, activities and games.  Assist in assessment of participant’s golf skills and life skills knowledge.  Wear a shirt or hat with coach level insignia. 

Timeframe:  Length of commitment is minimum one year.  2 hrs per week during a 10 week session . There are 3 sessions per year.  Spring, Summer, and Fall. Scheduling is done at the discretion of the volunteer and/or as needed.  Schedule is available the week prior to clinics.


Title:   Outreach Coach

PurposeExpose our program to schools & summer parks within Central Valley school districts. 

Duties:  Provide basic motor skill exercises and create introduction to The First Tee program that includes life skill and TFT Nine Core Values exposure.  Become familiar with TARGET Coach guide and lesson plan delivery.  Assist with coaches at Muni during field trips.

Timeframe:  Schedule varies as schools/city parks are assigned. During the week. After 3:00 pm

Worksite:  Various locations within of the Central Valley.

Qualifications:  No Experience necessary. Must be willing to travel.   

 

TitleTee Manager/ Course Marshall

Purpose:   Volunteers will manage the #1 & #7 teeing grounds, to ensure that participants tee off in a safe and timely matter.  

Duties:  Emphasize basic golf rules such as honors, pace of play, keeping score, out of bounds, and hazards.  Stress the use of proper golf etiquette such as replacing divots and fixing ball marks, tending the flagstick, keeping up with the other group members, and having a positive attitude.  Encourage all the participants to use the life skills which they learned in class while they are on the course.

Timeframe:  Every Saturday from 10:00 a.m. -1:00 p.m. (18 hrs) per session.

Qualifications:  Ability to coordinate groups and some knowledge of golf etiquette and rules.  Communicate with pro shop personnel on tee time scheduling.


TitleCheck-in & Check-out Assistant

PurposeTo assist the Director of Programming & Operations during clinic check–in & Check-out, registration sign-ups and other events.

Duties:  Take attendance and issue name tags to participants. Collect registration fees and record payment on attendance sheet. You also will be responsible for clinic notice and calendar event handouts reminders.

Timeframe:  Arrive no later than ½ hour prior to start of first class during scheduled clinic’s: weekdays  (1 ½ hrs)  Saturdays (3 hrs)

Qualifications:  Good organizational skills are necessary as well as a general knowledge of The First Tee of Central Valley program, events and participant opportunities.

 

TitleFirst Tee Store Supervisor

PurposeTo supervise the First Tee Merchandise sales and inventory.

Duties:   Make sure that The First Tee items are properly displayed and priced.  Collect first tee dollars and U.S. Currency.  Conduct inventory of all items at end of day.  Transfer monies to Director of Program & Operations.  Notify DP&O of shortages in merchandise.

Timeframe:   Arrive no later than 9:30 am on Saturdays. Store open from 10:00am until 1:00pm.

Qualifications:  No experience necessary. Training will be provided.

 

TitleEquipment & Set-up Assistants    

PurposeTo assist the Director of Programming & Operations with issuing, inventory and storage of all equipment.  Assist in set-up , breakdown and stowing of supplies and equipment used for clinics and events

Duties:  Help manage golf and training equipment.  Maintaining a clean and organized storage area.  Keeping record of donated clubs and issuing of equipment to all participants.  Inventory of equipment on a periodic basis.

Timeframe:  End of Clinics.  T/W/TH (½ hrs) and Saturdays (1/2 hrs)

Qualifications:  Good organizational skills and ability to lift 50 lbs.

  

TitleMaintenance Team  Supervisor  

Purpose:    To help out with ongoing projects involving woodworking, painting etc.    

Duties:       Taking on construction projects and repairing of equipment and/or storage facilities

Timeframe:   Flexible hours at your convenience. 

Worksite:   Home and Muni Golf course

Qualifications:  General tool knowledge and experience. 

 

TitleWebsite & Facebook Assistant  

Purpose:    To assist in managing the website & facebook pages by updating with text/ photos.    

Duties:       Update pages weekly or as required to ensure all information is kept current. 

Timeframe:   Flexible hours at your convenience. 

Worksite:  Your Home

Qualifications:  Familiar with website and facebook administration.
